Homemade Chicken Soup: Place 1 whole chicken in the bottom of a large soup pot and add the following ingredients: 2-3 cups sliced carrots, 1 bunch sliced celery, 1 bunch chopped parsley, 1/4 tsp black pepper, 1 tblsp chicken base or 2 cubes chicken boullion. Cover ingredients with water, fill up until about 4 inches from top of pan. Cook for about 1-2 hours (until chicken falls off of bone easily.) Remove chicken from soup and let cool, break meat away from bone and tear into small pieces. Add meat back into pan. Serve with corn bread. Variations: Can add 1 cup barley to soup. Can also add dumplings.

Grandma Kostolansky's Dumplings: Combine 1 beaten egg, 1 tsp salt, 1 cup water. Add flour to mixture until consistency of pancake mix. Drop dumplings by spoonfuls into boiling water by pressing them off of spoon with your finger. Drain water and add dumplings to soup.
