Carey Keavy lives in rural Watertown, Minnesota. She was born in a suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1975, but raised in a small mining town in central Nevada...boasting a population of 300. At seventeen years of age, Carey decided to venture to Minnesota with a friend, and to plant her roots there. Shortly after the move, Carey met husband Jeff and they now homeschool and co-raise their four sons.
In her spare time, Carey enjoys a multitude of activities including songwriting, guitar, piano, web design, decorating, sewing, and art. She is active in her church performing arts ministry; acting and writing plays and skits.
As a solution to earn a supplemental income despite her husband's irregular work schedule...a part-time children's entertainment business was born. Carey owned and operated her children's entertainment business in the Twin Cities for four and a half years, performing as a professional clown. The nature of the business required only a small time investment, and gave her the ability to turn down any work that may have interfered with family schedules.
After becoming a parent, it became very clear to her that although challenging, the time spent rearing a child was one of the most meaningful tasks in life. Her passion for seeing other moms catch onto the vision of the importance of motherhood was then birthed, and continues to be a burning passion for her.
The premise for Carey's life and book is that though we are all equipped with the ability to generate income, and with talents and gifts to bring pleasure to life...we can enjoy those things without sacrificing time with our children. She strives to maintain a balance...to fit her business life in around the kids and not to fit her kids in around her business life. She has committed to working on her projects and ventures on weekends or days when her husband is available to father the children. She makes use of the time before the children awake and after they are in bed for many hobbies, goals and meeting with friends.
Carey has a passion to see parents valuing their children and honoring their God-given positions as parents. She has also developed and teaches a workshop to help equip moms with the tools needed to transition from work to home.
